Race Relations in Carrboro - A Community Discussion

For three hours on Monday morning, Aug.11th, WCOM broadcast a show that asked guests to discuss the nature of race relations in Carrboro and how to find solutions to problems that might be perceived.

Guests from the Carrboro Board of Aldermen included Joal Hall Broun, Lydia Lavelle, Dan Coleman and Randee Haven-O'Donnell. Members of local congregations were Pastor Claire McKeown of United Methodist Church and Pastor Gary Webb from Calvary Baptist Church. WCOM volunteers that spoke were Jackie Helvey, host of WER Focus on the Arts, Rey Ramirez, host of Say It in Spanish, Paul Nagy host of Touchstones, Tobin Logan, host of Readings with Tobin, Richard Brown, host of The Richard Brown Show and Audrey Layden, host of what was the Counselor's Cafe and now of the upcoming Carrboro Book Beat.

The program was produced and hosted by Audrey Layden and Richard Brown. It is the first in a WCOM occasional series called "Carrboro Talks About..." that is designed to address the concerns of the Carrboro community.
